Valley View University is looking for experienced team of professionals to manage its University Bakery venture units in all Campuses (Oyibi; Techiman; and Kumasi). The preferred individuals will be charged to direct and manage the bakery’s operations to make sure it achieves its objectives in an effective and efficient manner. The ideal candidates will be responsible in leading the long-term strategic growth of the bakery unit while ensuring that the University’s vision, mission, and core values are preserved.

1.    General Managers – VVU Bakery

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Develops and executes the core operating strategies of the bakery venture unit to ensure that the University’s vision, mission, and core values are preserved.
  • Provides strategic advice to the Vice Chancellor through the Chief Operations Officer regarding the bakery venture unit so that the University will have accurate view of the market and the venture’s future.
  • Prepares and implements a comprehensive business plan to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities.
  • Ensures that the University’s policies and legal guidelines are communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Oversees the bakery’s financial performance, investments, and other business activities.
  • Delegates responsibilities, supervise the workforce and provide guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.
  • Analyzes problematic situations and occurrences and recommends solutions to ensure the bakery’s survival and growth.
  • Builds relationships with customers, university community, and agencies through professional networking.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in managing a bakery or health foods company.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans.
  • Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the production business.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cash flow, and financial management.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related area.
  • Master’s degree preferred in business management.
  • Over 10 years of experience as a manager or in a senior managerial role.

2.    Production Managers – VVU Bakery

 

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Develops and executes the production operating strategies of the bakery venture unit to ensure that the University’s vision, mission, and core values are preserved.
  • Provides strategic advice to the General Manager regarding the bakery venture unit so that the University Bakery will have accurate view of the production functions and the venture’s future.
  • Prepares and implements, in consultation with the General Manager, a comprehensive production plan to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and production activities.
  • Ensures that the University’s policies and legal guidelines are communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Motivates, supports, and provides guidance to production staff.
  • Ensures all safety and health standards are met to keep the production floor accident-free.
  • Communicates regularly with management regarding problems or issues impacting production.
  • Evaluates machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
  • Establishes balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
  • Sets productivity goals for each production line.
  • Develops workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ensures adequate scheduling of staff.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in managing a bakery or health foods production unit.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic production plans.
  • Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the production business.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, unit cost, standard and overhead costing, and operations management.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management, or related area.
  • Over 5 years of experience in production management or production supervision.

3.    Sales Managers – VVU Bakery

 

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Develops and execute the sales strategies of the bakery venture unit to ensure that the University’s vision, mission, and core values are preserved.
  • Provides strategic advice to the General Manager regarding the bakery venture unit so that the University Bakery will have accurate view of the sales functions and the venture’s future.
  • Prepares and implements, in consultation with the General Manager, a comprehensive selling and distribution plan to facilitate achievement of the sales goals.
  • Ensures that the University’s policies and legal guidelines are communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Motivates, supports, and provides guidance to the sales team.
  • Manages the sales team to ensure they meet sales targets consistently.
  • Develops and implements sales strategies to increase revenue and market share.
  • Reviews and analyzes sales data to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key customers and distributors.
  • Conducts market research to keep up to date on industry trends and the competition.
  • Trains and mentor sales team to improve performance and skills.
  • Collaborates with other departments (e.g., production, finance) to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiates prices and contracts with clients and suppliers.
  • Plans and attends promotional events to represent the University Bakery and generate sales leads.
  • Monitors and manages the sales budget to ensure profitability.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in sales management.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic selling and distribution plan.
  • Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence consumer behavior.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, sales promotions, and lead generation.
  • Years of experience in salesforce management and the sales commission program.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related area.
  • Over 5 years of experience in sales management or sales supervision.
