Dr. Robert Akpalu is currently the Acting Head of Mathematics and Science Education Department at Valley View University. He holds a B. Sc. in Mathematics, M.Phil. in Mathematics Education and also a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Cape Coast. He is the first Ph.D. degree holder in Mathematics Education produced in Ghana. His Ph.D. thesis was on Constructivism. His research interests are Constructivism, Problem Solving and Problem Posing in Mathematics, Spatial Visualization and Mathematics Learning.
Dr. Akpalu was formerly the Director of ICT Expo at the Department of Computing Science from 2005 to 2009. He then became the Director for the Centre for Adult and Distance Education (CADE) from 2009 to 2014. During his tenure of office as the Director for CADE, distance learning centers were opened at Techiman and Tamale. He is married to Patience and has four children.
