Valley View University last Wednesday experienced an exciting milestone with the groundbreaking for the constructing and remodelling of one of her buildings. The block which used to be called the “New Conference Hall” has been renamed after a former student of the University.
The block now called Boluwatife Block, is named after Boluwatife Omotoyosi Meghma, a former Banking and Finance - Business student of VVU. He was admitted into VVU in 2008 but met his untimely death on 3rd June 2008 in a road traffic accident, when he was returning from home in Lagos, Nigeria to school after spending vacation. This sad event occurred a few weeks before his 21st birthday on July 20, 2008.
His family set up a fund to raise money for a monument to be made in their son’s honour. The Boluwatife Meghoma Memorial Hall Project was a joint initiative of Valley View University and his Family. The fund which has accumulated a sum of about Ghs255,000.00 is to be used to start the Boluwatife Block in his honour.
Consequently on the 20th of July, 2016 which would have been his 29th birthday, Valley View University decided in collaboration with his family to name him after the “New Conference Hall”, and to break the ground for the completion of the block. The three-storey project which is starting this July is to be completed in January 2017. It would host the University’s Administration Officers and the Deans of the various schools and Faculties.
