The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Daniel Ganu, and included the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Agyekum Boateng; the Registrar, Dr. Samuel Amankwah; the Chief Finance Officer, Dr. Francis Osei Kuffour; the Dean of Spiritual Life Development, Pastor Peter Obeng Manu; Representative on Council, Dr. Stella Agyenim Boateng; and the Representative from the University Relations Directorate, Derrick Delali Azamalah.
During the engagement, Professor Daniel Ganu expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Julius Debrah for delegating Hon. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, Presidential Adviser on Legal Affairs and Legal Counsel to the President to attend his recent induction ceremony as Vice-Chancellor of Valley View University. He noted that the presence of the President’s representative added great significance to the occasion and reflected the government’s recognition of the university’s contribution to higher education in Ghana.
The Vice-Chancellor also took the opportunity to present some of the pressing needs of the university, particularly the urgent need for transportation support. He appealed to the government for assistance with a bus to facilitate the movement of students, especially nursing students who require regular transportation to hospitals and health facilities for their clinical training.
Professor Ganu emphasized the university’s longstanding contribution to the healthcare sector, proudly noting that Valley View University has produced some of the best nursing professionals in the country. He stressed that providing reliable transport for nursing students would greatly enhance their training experience and further strengthen the university’s commitment to producing highly competent healthcare professionals.
Another major concern raised during the visit was the issue of litigation and land encroachment affecting the university. The Vice-Chancellor explained that ongoing land disputes and encroachments around the university’s property continue to pose serious security threats to both staff and students on campus. He highlighted the need for urgent intervention to protect the institution’s assets and ensure a safe academic environment.
Responding to the concerns, Hon. Julius Debrah acknowledged the importance of the issues raised and recommended dialogue among all parties involved in the litigation matters as a first step toward resolution. He, however, assured the university delegation of the government’s readiness to intervene and provide the necessary support should the situation escalate beyond manageable levels.
The Chief of Staff also expressed his appreciation to the Valley View University delegation for the visit and commended the institution for its continued commitment to academic excellence, national development, and the training of professionals who contribute meaningfully to society.
The visit marked another important milestone in the relationship between Valley View University and the government, reflecting a shared vision for educational advancement, institutional growth, and national progress.
