Valley View University Welcomes Freshmen at 30th Matriculation Ceremony

Valley View University (VVU) officially welcomed 1,284 new students during its 30th Matriculation Ceremony held on March 14, 2025. The ceremony took place at the university’s Oyibi campus, with students from the Kumasi and Techiman satellite campuses joining virtually.

 

The event began with a prayer by Pr. Flacus Kofi Afriyie Amponsah, Associate Dean of Spiritual Life and Development, followed by an introduction by the Registrar, Mr. Albert K. Imbrah.

 

Admission statistics for the 2024/2025 academic year showed a total of 638 students admitted to the School of Nursing, 165 to the School of Education, 164 to the Faculty of Science, 154 to the School of Business, 111 graduate students, and 52 students to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Nationality breakdowns included students from Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Equatorial Guinea, and the United Kingdom.

 

Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Winfred Ofoe Lakotey welcomed the students, encouraging them to embrace the university’s core values of integrity, excellence, and service. He urged them to participate actively in academics, extracurricular activities, and community service.

 

Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Koomson congratulated the new students and emphasized that matriculation marks the official start of their academic journey. He assured graduate and undergraduate students, including 14 PhD candidates, of VVU’s commitment to helping them graduate on time, encouraging students to report any delays in supervision.

 

Prof. Koomson highlighted VVU’s reputation for producing graduates who secure employment, start businesses, or pursue opportunities abroad. He emphasized the university’s Christian identity and the importance of preserving the distinctiveness of Adventist education. He also urged students to participate in spiritual activities, maintain a supportive campus environment, and report any cases of misconduct or bullying.

 

In conclusion, he encouraged students to take pride in joining the VVU family and informed them of the university’s dedication to nurturing them for service to God and humanity.
