Valley View University (VVU) officially welcomed 1,284 new students during its 30th Matriculation Ceremony held on March 14, 2025. The ceremony took place at the university’s Oyibi campus, with students from the Kumasi and Techiman satellite campuses joining virtually.
The event which was was attended by senior university officials, including Key Officers, the leadership of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana, provided a platform for Key Officers to collaborate, track progress, and establish clear implementation strategies.
To ensure a structured approach to addressing the University’s development needs, participants were grouped into five specialized committees, each with the following areas of focus:
- Spiritual Life and Development – Strengthening faith-based initiatives and fostering spiritual growth.
- Operational and Administrative Strategies – Enhancing governance, decentralization, and efficiency in operations.
- Academic and Research – Improving learning strategies, faculty development, and academic excellence.
- Finance – Ensuring financial sustainability and fair staff remuneration.
- Infrastructure Development – Planning and executing facility upgrades to enhance campus environments.
Several critical resolutions were made during the retreat. These included but not limited to the following:
Financial Decentralization: Implementation to commence in April 2025, with full roll out by September 2025.
A task force was established to analyse and compare different remuneration models.
Revenue-Sharing Model: Adoption of a revenue-sharing formula where 60% of revenue will be allocated to the University and 40% to a maintenance fund for infrastructure development.
Academic Program Expansion: A feasibility study will be conducted to evaluate new academic programs in collaboration with sister institutions.
Campus Specialization: Consideration of specialized academic programs across different campuses to enhance the University’s competitive edge.
At the close of the retreat, the Council Chair issued a charge to all participants, urging them to remain committed to the effective implementation of the strategies discussed. Participants collectively pledged their accountability, innovation, and collaborative efforts to restore and enhance the University’s reputation and operational efficiency.
