VVU Inducts Dr Martha Duah Into Office

A short but colorful ceremony has been held to induct Dr. Martha Duah into the office of Dean of Student Life and Services by the Vice Chancellor of Valley View University, Prof. Daniel Kwame Bediako.

 

The event which was held at the Anton Mittere Conference Hall was attended by Prof. Peter Agyekum Boateng, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mr. Albert Kweku Imbrah, Registrar, Pastor, Dr. Emmanuel Takyi, the immediate past Dean of student life and Services and current Chaplain as well as Pastor Ebenezer Quaye, the Associate Chaplain. Also in attendance were Rectors, Deans of Faculties/Schools, Hall Deans as well as the Leadership of the Student body.

In a brief address, the Vice Chancellor urged the inductee to give off her best in the service of the University and intimated the support the university administration was willing to offer her in her new role. He also emphasized the experience and depth Dr. Martha Duah brings to the new position.

In her acceptance response, Dr. Duah recognized the honor done her to have been chosen to serve in the capacity of the Dean of Student Life and Services.  She thanked the university administration for choosing her and acknowledged the huge responsibilities that go with the office.

Dr. Duah expressed hope in making a difference in her new role “I believe with the help of all of you present working together as a team with integrity and excellence, purposeful of preparing students to serve God and humanity with integrity and excellence, and relying on the leadership and direction of God, the proprietor of this institution, the impossibility is achievable”.

Dr. Duah, comes to the office as an alumna of Valley View University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Religion degree as the valedictorian of her graduating class.  She obtained her Master of Arts degree from Andrews University, Adventist Seminary of West Africa Campus, now Babcock University, after which she taught some courses at Valley View University. In 2000, she moved to Andrews University, USA, to pursue a doctorate degree in Systematic Theology. Upon completion, she taught at the Seminary and undergraduate level at the School of Distance Education, where she remains an adjunct faculty to date.

Upon her return to Valley View University in 2017, she served as a full-time lecturer until her recent appointment as Dean of Student Life and Services. She has also been appointed as an adjunct faculty of the Adventist University of Africa in Kenya.

Dr. Duah has chaired a number of committees in Valley View University and currently serves on the Valley View University Foundation Board.

Dr. Duah has to her credit  a number of chapters to books and peer-reviewed articles.

Dr. Duah was born on the 16th of July 1967 to Mr Emmanuel Opare Duodu and Madam Florence Ahimah at Nsawam., Eastern Region, Ghana. She is married to Benjamin Darko Duah with two children, Martha and Zachary.

Dr. Martha Duah takes over the office from Pastor, Dr. Emmanuel Harrison Takyi, who has served the University in that capacity for close to a decade.
