The Ellen Gould White Residence at Valley View University, houses over 500 female students. This great hall recently had a vibrant and impactful Hall Week celebration that blended academic empowerment, personal development, and cultural expression.
The theme for the week celebration was “Nurturing Excellence and Personal Development of Young Women for life beyond university”. It featured a series of thoughtful activities aimed at equipping students with the tools to thrive both academically and socially. A major highlight of the celebration was a seminar on “Thriving for Academic Excellence”, which challenged the ladies to rise to the demands of the modern job market and match their male counterparts in professional competence.
The Hall Dean, Dr. Faustina Oduro Twum, emphasized the importance of discipline, time management, determination, and self-confidence in achieving academic and career success. Further, she encouraged the ladies to be goal-oriented in preparedness for the future, ensuring to make their parents proud of their achievements. Also, the Guest speaker, Dr. Josiah Andoh, a relationship coach focused on relationships and personal conduct, encouraging the ladies to uphold values of integrity, respect, and emotional maturity as they prepare for future marital life. He mentioned that in order to keep fire burning, one needs oxygen, heat and fuel. The discussion created an awareness, reflection and dialogue on the role of character building that ensures a lasting relationship.
There were several moments of joy: wearing old school attire to class, cultural night, engaging in clean-up exercise, participating in jamma night, and thanksgiving service at church in the E. G. White Hall cloth. Ultimately, on Sunday, November 9, 2025 the event was climaxed, where the hallers showcased creativity through talents and cultural performance: singing, dancing, modeling, and traditional display; adding a memorable complement of entertainment and community spirit.
Speaking on the significance of the event:
A resident student at Ellen G. White Hall shared her view: “I feel empowered, knowing that I am not just here to earn a degree - but to become a woman of impact.”
Dr. Martha Duah, Dean of Student Life and Services expressed her joy at the success of the Hall Week Celebration and remarked, “The event was more than a celebration - it was a platform for transformation.”
Dr. Faustina Oduro Twum, Dean of Ellen G. White Hall, narrates, “I am proud of the young ladies and the values, they are embracing. It is satisfying to know that we are raising women of purpose, to contribute responsibly to themselves, society and the nation at large.”
This is a testament of holistic education, that nurtures the mind, heart, and spirit of every student.
