Valley View University Hosts WAD Impact 2025 Conference

Valley View University was the venue for the West African Division (WAD) Impact 2025 conference, held at the university chapel. Themed “On Mission Focus: Evangelism, Membership, Nurturing, and Retention,” the event brought together key church leaders, including the General Conference Executive Secretary, division officers, Ghana Union officers, field officers, and other participants.

The program commenced with an introduction and purpose statement by Pastor Thomas Techie Ocran, who highlighted the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s achievements, notably surpassing one million members in the region. He outlined a strategic vision to double church membership by 2030, emphasizing evangelism, education, healthcare, and leadership development. He also introduced WAD Impact 2025 as a key initiative to drive this growth, stressing the importance of collaboration with the General Conference. Additionally, he urged leaders and members to strengthen spiritual growth, empower leadership, expand outreach through business and evangelism, ensure financial sustainability, and address socio-economic challenges. He concluded with a call for unity, innovation, and commitment to the church’s mission.

Following this, Pastor Selom Sesosu delivered a presentation on the WAD mission, expectations, and future goals, while Pastor Chris Annan-Nunoo provided an insightful historical overview of Adventism in Ghana.

A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Pastor Erton Carlos Köhler, the General Conference Executive Secretary, who expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from union and local leaders, as well as Valley View University. He conveyed greetings from General Conference President, Pastor Ted Wilson, noting Ghana’s significance in the global Adventist community, as Wilson himself spent nine years in the country.

Pastor Köhler’s sermon focused on the Second Coming of Jesus, emphasizing that the church’s mission is to spread the gospel rather than becoming distracted by conspiracy theories or speculative signs. Citing Matthew 24:14, he reinforced the importance of preaching the gospel as the central duty of all believers. He concluded with an encouraging message: “Move forward by faith—God is with you.”

The event ended with a presentation of gifts to Pastor Köhler, recognizing his contributions and leadership. The WAD Impact 2025 conference served as a platform to renew commitment to evangelism, leadership, and spiritual growth, as the church continues its mission across the region.
