About CADE

VVU Center for Adult and Distance Education coordinates weekend face-to-face classes of the undergraduate degree programs of the University. Currently, the center coordinates five-degree programs, namely, Accounting, Human Resource, Marketing, Management, and Development Studies. There are five learning centers, namely, Oyibi, Takoradi, Kumasi, Techiman, and Tamale. All programs have been accredited by Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and the Adventist Accrediting Association, the International Educational accreditation body of the Seventh-day Adventists. Valley View University is well positioned to make acquiring and employing new skills in dealing with challenges and embracing opportunities a reality irrespective of space, time, and distance. To offer Value-Based education that is more affordable and accessible to persons who are unable to avail themselves of the conventional campus-oriented programmes due to temporal, geographical, economic or personal restrictions. Programs

VVU Center for Adult and Distance offers pre-degree programs such as mature entry, diploma, and undergraduate. In the near future, some undergraduate and graduate programs will be offered fully online. The pre-degree and undergraduate programs run both as weekend. The programs per offering are as follows:

Admission process

Prospective Student

CADE welcomes any applicant regardless of race, color, creed, sex, religion, who meets the admission requirements and is willing to share the mission, goals, and values of the University. Every new application will be assessed academically and compliance with any perquisites for the program of study will be from the onset determined.
 
To begin your application, please, follow the steps below:

  • Step 2. Submit Other Required Documents
 
  1. Recent Photograph
 A recent passport size (2”x2”)
  1. Copy of Legal Identification
Photocopy of your passport (Biodata page) or Birth certificate (in English)
  1. Copy of Secondary School Certificate/University Certificate
Photocopy of your Secondary School Certificate or Mature Entry Certificate for Undergraduate programs and University certificate for graduate programs.
  1. Admission Assessment
Online Recommendation form filled by two referees for graduate studies will be forwarded by the referees to [email protected]. The prospective student will provide the email addresses of the referees.
  1. Official Transcript of Current Qualification
The prospective student will request the institution from where he/she graduated to send the Original Transcript in a sealed envelope by mail. A certified literal translated copy if the original is not English. The student may send an electronic version for a provisional assessment awaiting the original.

  • Step 3. Send Proof of English Proficient (See the Bulletin for eligibility)
English is the official language of Ghana and that the medium of instruction at Valley View University is English at all levels of study. If a prospective student has not studied in an English-speaking country or institution, he/she has four options to prove competence:
  1. A score of 85 on TOEFL
  2. A Band score average of at least 6.5 with a minimum band of 5.5 in writing on the international English Language Testing System (IELTS) Test.
  3. Challenge English Proficiency Placement Test of Valley View University.
  4. Take English Proficiency class for two semesters and pass the placement test.
  • Step 4. Receive Acceptance Letter
An acceptance letter will be sent to the student after the application has been assessed and approved by the Head of Department and Admissions Committee. Acceptance Letter from the Admissions Office will be forwarded via email to a successful applicant. The Letter will include, among others, perquisites if any and transfer of credits for atop-up applicant.

Returning Students

A student can defer for not more than two semesters. If deferment occurs more than the stipulated period and the student returns, he/she forfeits the admission status and will be required to seek re-admission to the program by:

 

  1. Filling the application form online
  2. Receive a decision from the Admission Committee.
