An induction ceremony was on March 9 held for five faculty members in persons of Professors Dominic Damoah, Winfred Larkotey, Martin Akotey, Ninon Ametil, and John Appiah who had been appointed on promotion to the rank of Associate Professor by Valley View University (VVU) Council. The event, being the first of its kind, took place at the Boluwatife Conference Hall at 2:30 p.m.
Welcoming the new Associate Professors and their families, faculty, staff, and students, the Ag. Director of Human Resource Management and Development of the University congratulated the new professors for their achievements. She hoped the University would continue producing more professors in the coming years.
Mr. Albert Imbrah, Registrar of VVU, who presented the professors to the gathering, underscored the essence of VVU producing more professors. He stated that the inductees had accomplished much, distinguished themselves, and therefore deserved the promotion.
Addressing the audience, Pastor (Dr) T. T. Ocran, Chair of the VVU Council, expressed his delight in the achievement of the individuals and noted what that feat meant for the image of the University. He congratulated the inductees, admonished them to be leaders, and set good examples for the rest of the faculty members and the University Community to emulate. The Council Chair mentioned to the inductees that several people who had to join the ceremony to celebrate with them could also be professors. Therefore, they should continue to work hard to attain higher heights.
Professor William Koomson, Vice-Chancellor of VVU, assisted by the Registrar, presented nicely designed plaques to formally induct the Associate Professors to the University. Afterwards, the Associate Professors received felicitations and well-wishes from family and friends.
In his closing remarks, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that he was ready to support any faculty member who would work hard to climb the academic ladder to the top. He, therefore, urged members to dedicate themselves and be committed to their vocation because hard work pays off.
Thanking the audience and the University Community on behalf of the new Professors, Professor Ninon Amertil, Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University, also the first woman to occupy that position at VVU, expressed her appreciation to the Administration for the recognition and honour done them. She assured members that they would live up to the expectations of all.
The brief but colourful event ended with a closing prayer from Pastor (Dr) Emmanuel Harrison Takyi, Chaplain of the University.
